Boys At Tosconova off Derby trail

Horse Racing

HALLANDALE BEACH, Fla. -- Boys At Tosconova, runner-up in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile behind division leader Uncle Mo, is off the Kentucky Derby trail.

Trainer Rick Dutrow said Saturday that Boys At Tosconova has been sent to the farm in Kentucky and will not be back in training for a while.

Boys At Tosconova had been pointing for the Grade 3 Holy Bull here earlier this month but was taken out of training by Dutrow the week of the race.

"He just wasn't right," said Dutrow. "All the tests we took came back negative. I'm not sure what's bothering him but he just wasn't himself. I originally thought it was a knee, it might be an ankle. So we'll just back off and let him regroup."

Boys At Tosconova started four times at 2, posting two victories and two seconds including a 1 3/4-length decision over Stay Thirsty in Saratoga's Grade 1 Hopeful.
