3 drivers hurt after fall in 2nd at Meadowlands

Three drivers have been taken to the hospital following a spill in the second race at Meadowlands Racetrack on Friday night. Six drivers were unseated in the accident.

It occurred early in the race when Four Starzz Left stumbled to the ground, tossing George Brennan out of the sulky.
Drivers Daniel Dube, Brian Sears, Eric Goodell, Ron Pierce and Richard Silverman were unseated in the chain reaction that followed.
Silverman and Dube were taken immediately to Hackensack University Medical Center, and Pierce was later sent for X-rays on a sore shoulder. There was no immediate word on their conditions.
Brennan, Sears and Goodell returned to compete in later races.

I know that accidents happen in Thoroughbred racing too, but it just seems like harness racing is more prone to this sort of thing. Because of the nature of the sport, more drivers are involved in the accidents causing more potential for serious injury.
