The graded stakes winners Aggie Engineer and Victor's Cry will pass Saturday's Eddie Read Stakes at Del Mar in favor of upcoming stakes at this meeting.

Aggie Engineer, who won the Grade 2 San Pasqual Handicap at Santa Anita in January, is being pointed for the $85,000 Wickerr Handicap on Wednesday, a restricted race over a mile on turf, trainer Paddy Gallagher said. Aggie Engineer was third in the Grade 2 Californian Stakes at Hollywood Park on June 4.

Victor's Cry, the winner of the Grade 1 Shoemaker Mile and Grade 2 Citation Handicap at Hollywood Park last year, will start in the $200,000 Del Mar Mile on Aug. 27, trainer Eoin Harty said Victor's Cry was third in the Grade 1 Shoemaker Mile on July 2.

"He needs more time right now," Harty said. "That race took more out of him then I thought."

Talamo appeals suspension

Jockey Joe Talamo has appealed a three-day suspension for causing interference that led to a disqualification at Hollywood Park on July 10.

Talamo was cited for his ride on Maestro, who won a maiden special weight race over 1 1/16 miles but bumped with runner-up Balladry in deep stretch. Maestro was disqualified and placed second.

Talamo's suspension was scheduled to begin on Sunday and continue through Thursday, July 28.
