At Monmouth Park, Belmont Stakes winner Rule On Ice drilled five furlongs in 58.80 seconds, the fastest of 28 breezes at the distance.

According to trainer Kelly Breen, Ruler On Ice, under regular jockey Jose Valdivia Jr., began his drill five lengths behind stablemates Galaxy Kat and Magical Myth, caught that pair at the eighth pole, and finished five in front at the wire.

"It was a very impressive workout time-wise as well as visually,'' Breen said. "He looks great.''

Ruler On Ice finished third in the Haskell. Breen maintains that neither Ruler On Ice nor Pants On Fire who finished fifth in the Haskell cared for the Monmouth surface on Haskell Day.

"Pants On Fire was really spinning his wheels the first quarter of a mile and Ruler On Ice, it took him a little longer to get into gear,'' Breen said. "The home-field advantage was really no advantage at all. Off of what I saw today we're just moving forward.''

Breen said he has not yet decided whether to ship Ruler On Ice to Saratoga in time to get a work over the track or whether he will have his final work at Monmouth.

Meanwhile, Breen said Pants On Fire, the Louisiana Derby and Pegasus winner, is being pointed to the Smarty Jones at Parx Racing on Sept. 5. He will work next weekend, Breen said.
