Blind Luck, the reigning champion 3-year-old filly, will be among eight Grade 1-winning fillies on offer at Keeneland's November mixed sale, which starts Nov. 7.
Blind Luck is a late entry to the auction and will go through the ring as Hip No. 210A, the last horse through the ring on the 11-day sale's opening session. Owners Mark DeDomenico, John Carver, Peter Abruzzo, and Jerry Hollendorfer will offer the 4-year-old as a racing or broodmare prospect. Taylor Made Sales will act as consignor. Blind Luck has won six Grade 1 races. Hollendorfer, who also trains the filly, dropped her from consideration for the Breeders' Cup Ladies' Classic after her last-place finish in the Oct. 1 Lady's Secret at Santa Anita. Before that race, Blind Luck had never been out of the money in 21 starts. Post-race exams turned up no physical reason for her poor Lady's Secret result, Hollendorfer told Daily Racing Form last week. Blind Luck is the first foal out of the Best of Luck mare Lucky One, who sold to Shadai Farm for $1.85 million at last year's Keeneland November sale, where she was carrying a full sibling to Blind Luck. The Keeneland November sale's other Grade 1-winning females this year are 2011 Alabama winner Royal Delta, 2011 Mother Goose winner Buster's Ready, 2011 Santa Monica winner Switch, 2010 Breeders' Cup Ladies' Classic winner Unrivaled Belle, 2010 Matriarch winner Gypsy's Warning, 2010 Beldame and Ogden Phipps winner Life at Ten, and 2009 Ashland winner Hooh Why. Unrivaled Belle and Life At Ten are in the catalog as broodmare prospects, and the others will go through the ring as racing or broodmare prospects.
