Trainer Bob Baffert won the $1 million Haskell Invitational for 3-year-olds a fifth time as the late-developing Coil rallied from last to beat Preakness winner Shackleford by a neck on Sunday at Monmouth Park.

The victory in the race, part the Breeders' Cup Challenge series, gives Coil an automatic berth in the BC Classic at Churchill Downs in November.

Martin Garcia was aboard as Coil won for the fourth time in six starts. The time was 1:48.20 for the 1 1-8 miles on the fast track.

Ruler On Ice, the Belmont Stakes winner, was third.
