ETOBICOKE, Ontario - Court of the Realm upset a tough field under Eurico Da Silva to notch his stakes debut in the $269,200 King Edward at Woodbine on Saturday.

Fifty Proof set moderate fractions over a course labeled good, while being pressed along the inside by last year's winner of the Grade 2 event, Grand Adventure. Court of the Realm ($26.10) raced in fourth through the turn of the one-mile turf event.

Da Silva angled Court of the Realm outside the leaders early in the stretch, and they hit the front around the eighth pole en route to a half-length score, in a time of 1:35.86.

Fifty Proof barely held off the late-running favorite, Society's Chairman, to finish second, and Artic Fern prevailed in a three-way photo for fourth.

Court of the Realm, who was coming off four straight Polytrack victories, was winning for the first time on the grass. Trained by Peter Berringer, he earned $150,000 for the partnership of Aurora Meadows and Oxbridge Farm.

"I really like this horse," said Berringer. "We've been through a lot. He just keeps getting better and better."
