DEL MAR, Calif. -- Acclamation is more than just a turf marathoner.

Cutting back in distance from 1 1/4 miles to 1 1/8 miles on turf, Acclamation ($8.40) led throughout Saturday's Grade 1 Eddie Read Stakes, winning the $300,000 race by 3 1/4 lengths over Jeranimo, who was second throughout.

Caracortado, the 3-2 favorite, finished third, followed by Smart Bid, Leroy's Dynameaux , and Goldwaki.

Ridden by Joe Talamo, Acclamation was timed in 1:46.99.

Acclamation, a 5-year-old California-bred, has won three consecutive graded stakes on turf. He won the Grade 2 Jim Murray Handicap over 1 1/2 miles on turf in May and the Grade 1 Charles Whittingham Handicap over 1 1/4 miles on turf in June at Hollywood Park.
