Goldikova won Sunday's Group 1 Prix Rothschild for a record fourth consecutive year at Deauville, France, holding off Sahpresa by a short neck. The margin at the end of the one-mile race was somewhat deceptive, as Goldikova was being eased down by jockey Olivier Peslier in the final sixteenth.

The victory gave Goldikova her 14th win in a Group 1 or Grade 1 race. Three of those wins have come in the last three runnings of the Breeders' Cup Mile twice at Santa Anita, once at Churchill Downs.

A shot at a 15th Group 1 win may not be far off. Trainer Freddy Head said on Sunday that Goldikova could make a quick turnaround for the Prix Jacques le Marois against males at Deauville on Aug. 15, if the turf course does not sustain too much rain. Goldikova won the Prix Jacques le Marois in 2009 and was second in the race last year.

In Sunday's Prix Rothschild, Goldikova was sent off at 2-5 in a field of eight and ran accordingly. Peslier had Goldikova second to stablemate, and pacesetter, Flash Dance for the first six furlongs, took the lead in the final quarter-mile, and was clearly in front with a furlong to go before he began to ease her down. Racing on good ground, Goldikova was timed in 1:34.30. Timepiece finished third.

The Prix Rothschild is Goldikova's second Group 1 win of the year, preceded by the Prix d'Ispahan at Longchamp in May. She finished second to Canford Cliffs as the 5-4 favorite in the Group 1 Queen Anne Stakes at Royal Ascot on June 14, losing by a length after leading with a furlong to go.

A 5-year-old mare, Goldikova has won 17 of 24 starts.
