Prominent jockey Rosie Napravnik escaped serious injury after being thrown from her mount, Benwill, behind the gate prior to the sixth race at Fair Grounds Race Course & Slots Jan. 8.

Napravnik was transported to East Jefferson General Hospital complaining of pain in both ankles following the incident. The 23-year-old did not sustain any fractures, according to Napravnik's business agent Kelly Wietsma, and was released from the hospital around 5:30 p.m. CST.

She reportedly landed feet first after being thrown. Despite some bone bruising, doctors at East Jefferson cleared Napravnik to ride again when live racing resumes at Fair Grounds Jan. 11.

Napravnik won twice on the Jan. 8 card to raise her meet-leading total to 47. Last season, Napravnik became the first woman to earn a Fair Grounds riding title with 110 wins, including her first seven-figure stakes score aboard Pants On Fire in the $1 million Louisiana Derby.
