Russell Baze wins six races at Golden Gate

ALBANY, Calif. -- rode six winners at Golden Gate Fields on Friday, including the feature race with Bold Chieftain. Four of his winners were for trainer Steve Sherman.

Baze guided Bold Chieftain ($3.80) to a three-quarter-length victory over Monterey Jazz in the day's feature race at one mile. The final time of 1:36.21 is the fastest time of the meet at the distance. Bold Chieftain, 7, who may run next in the Grade 2 San Francisco Mile for trainer Bill Morey Jr.

Baze partnered with Sherman for wins in the first with Pearloftheorient ($3.20), second with I Wanna Go Fast ($3.80), sixth with Trip to the Ranch ($7.80), and ninth with Move Over Marino ($4.20). He also won the fifth race with Hudson Landing ($5.80) for Morey.

Baze, who holds the Northern California record of seven wins on a card, finished third on his other mount, Form a Posse, in the third race.
