SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. -- As expected, a field of 10, including the winners of the final two legs of this year's Triple Crown, was entered Wednesday for Saturday's 142nd running of the $1 million Travers, the cornerstone event of the Saratoga season. The race likely will decide leadership in the 3-year-old division.

Three of the four morning-line favorites in the race, Stay Thirsty (5-2), Coil (3-1), and Shackleford (9-2), drew outside posts. Haskell winner Coil will break from Post 7, Jim Dandy winner Stay Thirsty starts in Post 9, and Preakness winner Shackleford will start from the extreme outside in Post 10. The lineup also includes Belmont Stakes winner Ruler On Ice (6-1), who drew Post 4.

"Post doesn't make much of a difference here going a mile and one-quarter," trainer Dale Romans said minutes before Shackleford drew the extreme outside. "It's not like the Derby."

The Travers will be broadcast live along with the Grade 1 King's Bishop from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. ET on NBC.
