Tizway returned to the work tab Tuesday morning at Saratoga, but he is not returning to the Jockey Club Gold Cup field.

After missing a workout last week due to a temperature, Tizway breezed five furlongs in 1:01.44 over the Oklahoma training track Tuesday morning. Saratoga clockers caught Tizway in fractions of 13.20 seconds, 25.20, and 37.20. He galloped out six furlongs in 1:15.40.

"He worked very good," trainer James Bond said. "We had a hiccup unfortunately last Thursday. I was going to wait and work him tomorrow, but there are showers on the way, so I thought I'd better be in front of it and not behind it. He worked an easy five-eighths, on his own terms. Hopefully, there are no more ripples in the water."

Tizway developed a temperature last Thursday that prompted Bond to cancel a scheduled workout Friday. Tizway jogged Saturday and galloped Sunday and Monday before Tuesday's breeze.

"He's been in the feed tub and that's the big thing," Bond said. "I would have been nervous if he had stopped eating. I could train a horse that eats, it's hard to train a horse that doesn't eat."

Bond hopes to keep Tizway on a seven- or eight-day work schedule leading up to the Breeders' Cup Classic.

Tizway has climbed to the top of the older male division with victories in the Metropolitan and Whitney handicaps.
