2012 Coolmore Lexington Stakes Field and Breakdown

While in recent years, the Lexington Stakes has become more of a race to prep late bloomers for the Preakness than a Derby Trial, this year Bob Baffert's Castaway could earn a Kentucky Derby spot. Morgan's Guerilla could find himself running for the roses as well - if he wins the Lexington and a couple of those eligible for the Derby defect. While both those horses have an opportunity to get in the big show, they will have to defeat a fairly talented field to do so.

So where are the bets? Well, sentimentally I love to see Morgan's Guerilla earn a spot in the Kentucky Derby. That said, I never bet win tickets in stake races. If the odds stay good I'll be making exacta to superfecta bets using Morgan's Guerilla, Golden Ticket, Castaway, and News Pending. My long shot would be Skyring. As always, my horses and bets will change with the odds.
