2013 Spiral Stakes Post Position and Analysis

The road to the Kentucky Derby continues this weekend with the 2013 Spiral Stakes at Turfway Park. The points for the top 4 finishes will be awarded as 50-20-10-5.
The morning line favorite is Uncaptured, winner of the Kentucky Jockey Club (G2) and the Iroquois (G3) at Churchill Downs. He'll face off against Balance the Books who is making the first non-turf start of his career, Capo Bastone who ran third in the Front Runner (G1) and Breeders' Cup Juvenile (G1), and Mac the Man who has won three straight at Turfway Park.
Also running is Channel Isle, a D. Wayne Lucas trained horse, My Name Is Michael who ran third in the Sam F. Davis (G3) last time out, and General Election, Giant Finish, and For Greater Glory who ran 1st, 2nd, and 3rd in the John Battaglia Memorial respectively. Taken by the Storm and Black Onyz are both recent allowance race winners at Gulfstream Park and Fear the Kitten is a Michael J. Maker trained horse who finished second in the Southwest Stakes (G3) last time out.
Uncaptured is probably a deserving favorite, but I would also keep a close eye on Balance the Books and General Election. My longshot is Fear the Kitten.
