2013 Sunland Park Derby Post Position and Analysis

The road to the Kentucky Derby continues this weekend with the 2013 Sunland Park Derby. The points for the top 4 finishes will be awarded as 50-20-10-5.
Bob Baffert is running 2 horses in this one starting with the morning line favorite Shakin It Up. Shakin It Up won the San Vicente (G2) last month and the Hollwood Prevue (G3) back in November. Baffert also has Martin Garcia riding Govenor Charlie who broke his maiden last month in his second start.
Joining Baffert's two are Abraham, a Todd Pletcher colt who broke his maiden last month at Gulfstream Park, Saint Prado who finished third in the Lost in the Fog Stakes at Golden Gate last June, Show Some Magic who won the Riley Allison Futurity and recently finished third in the Mine That Bird Derby, and Dry Summer who won the Mine That Bird Derby. Also running are Stormdriver, third place finisher in the Mine That Bird Derby, Mudflats a Tapit Gelding trained by Doug O'Neill, and Just Win Baby.
Shakin It Up and Govenor Charlie are obvious picks in this one, but this will be the longest distance Shakin It Up has run. He'll be in my exotics, but not my pick to win. The Baffert/Garcia combo on Governor Charlie I really like and will be putting some money on if the odds stay favorable.
Dry Summer has already beaten Show Some Magic and Stormdriver but he hasn't faired well in his graded stakes races. I'll still find room for him in my exotics. I also like Saint Prado as my longshot.
