Ride on Curlin gets the first part of his name from his dam, Magical Ride, who finished third in the 2006 Adirondack at Saratoga. He is sired by two-time Horse of the Year Curlin North America's all-time richest Thoroughbred with $10.5 million in earnings. Ride on Curlin has a streak of third place finishes in the Champagne, Street Sense, Southwest Stakes, and the Rebel Stakes with a win in an allowance race between the 4.

Headed for the Arkansas Derby, he had his last major drill before the race April 6, breezing seven furlongs in 1:26 4/5 at Oaklawn Park. His trainer, Billy Gowan, a former assistant of Hall of Fame trainer Jack Van Berg, was pleased with the workout.

"He worked really good," said Gowan. "It was the same type of work he had before the Rebel. He started out slow and finished fast. I do know he's really good right now. He's perfect."

This is a horse to watch closely this Saturday. He'll need more points if he hopes to ride in the big race on the first Saturday in May, but he's got a great pedigree and a lot of promise. Now we'll see if he delivers.
