The Post Position draw results for the 135th Preakness Stakes taking place this Saturday, May 15th 2010 at Pimlico Race Course didn't do much to change my original picks. I've heard some arguments for First Dude and Aikenite, but nothing compelling enough enough for me to include them in my short list. This is definitely not a great field and with everyone jumping on the Super Saver bandwagon there may not be much money to be made. However, it's hard to ignore what Super Saver and Calvin Borel are capable of, so he will definitely be in my Box tomorrow.

Lookin at Lucky is probably the fastest horse running but I can't help but wonder if his recent bad habits will become too much of an obstacle. I think the switch to Martin Garcia is probably a positive one though and if he can handle the distance he'll be in the thick of things at the finish.

I really like Caracortado in this race as well. He's a strong California Gelding who won his first five races before finishing 3rd at the San Felipe Stakes and 4th at the Santa Anita Derby. Those last two loses forced him to sit out the Derby as he didn't qualify with enough graded stakes earnings, but trainer Michael Machowsky feels good about him running in the Preakness.

My plan right now is to box my top 4 picks. We're still a day away and it's always possible something changes, but as of now here are my picks:

No.   Horse Trainer Jockey Pool 3 Odds
1 Super Saver Silks Super Saver Todd A. Pletcher Calvin Borel 5-2
5 Caracortado Silks Caracortado Michael Machowsky Paul Atkinson 30-1
2 Lookin At Lucky Silks Lookin At Lucky Bob Baffert Martin Garcia 4-1
4 Paddy O'Prado Silks Paddy O'Prado Dale L. Romans Kent J. Desormeaux 6-1
3 Dublin Silks Dublin D. Wayne Lukas Garrett K. Gomez 15-1
