Horse of the Year Rachel Alexandra was back at work Wednesday morning at Fair Grounds, where she breezed six furlongs in 1:14, her longest work of 2010, and another significant step toward her intended comeback race on March 13 in New Orleans.
The Louisiana Handicap on Jan. 23 essentially ended about 24.60 seconds after it began. That was the posted first quarter-mile split in the 1 1/16-mile dirt race, and out on the track, Friesan Fire was loping along by his lonesome.
Since winning an allowance race Jan. 3 at Fair Grounds, Stay Put has taken the course of action suggested by his name. But now it is time for Stay Put to get going again.
