Is it May already? The 139th Run for the Roses takes place tomorrow and for some reason this year I feel like it snuck up on me. There's a 60% chance of rain, which could make this an interesting race.

Orb is a Malibu Moon and Lady Liberty colt. He won the Fountain of Youth (G2) and the Florida Derby (G1) over some very good Derby competition. Joel Rosario returns to ride Orb in the Derby - he was aboard him for his first five starts, but was unable to take the mount in the Besilu Stables Fountain of Youth and Florida Derby due to prior calls. He trained at Payson Park before heading to Churchill Downs and impressed trainer Shug McGaughey.

Revolutionary is a War Pass and Runup The Colors colt. It took him 4 attempts before he broke his maiden, but he followed that with a win in the Withers (G3) and a win in the Louisiana Derby (G2). He's another Todd Pletcher trained horse who has as good a chance as any in the field at taking home the roses.

Lines of Battle is a War Front and Black Speck colt. He won the UAE Derby (G2) on March 30th which catapulted him into the top of the points leaderboard for Kentucky Derby contenders. He will return to the U.S. for the Run for the Roses and his connections hope it will result in a better finish than his last trip to the U.S. - a 7th place in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf (G1).

Will Take Charge is a Unbridled's Song and Take Charge Lady colt trained by D. Wayne Lukas. He won the Smarty Jones in January and, after a disappointing 6th place finish in the Southwest Stakes (G3), he rebounded to win the Rebel Stakes (G2). His connections considered running him in the Grade 1 Blue Grass at Keeneland, but decided training up to the Kentucky Derby was the better route.

Itsmyluckyday is a Lawyer Ron and Viva La Slew colt. He won the Gulfstream Park Derby and the Holy Bull Stakes (G3) and finished second in his most recent race, the Florida Derby (G1). He's spent his time since the Florida Derby working out at Calder Race Track preparing for the Kentucky Derby.

Vyjack is an Into Mischief and Life Happened colt who started his career four for four, including wins in the Gotham Stakes (G3) and the Jerome Handicap (G2). His latest race was a show in the Wood Memorial (G1), but it was announced after the race that he had a lung infection. He was beaten by Verrazano, but just missed second to Normandy Invasion putting in a very strong performance. He's currently staying at Fair Hill Equine Therapy Center under trainer Bruce Jackson who operates the facility.

Govenor Charlie is a Bob Baffert trained, Midnight Lute sired colt. He broke his maiden in his second attempt and then went on to break the track record en route to a five-lengths win at the Sunland Derby (G3). He's currently training at Churchill Downs in preparation for the Kentucky Derby, though he was sidelined by a foot injury earlier.
