General Quarters, who scored the biggest turf win of his career last year at Churchill Downs, returns as the 119-pound high weight in the Grade 2, $175,000 Firecracker Handicap on closing day of the 38-day spring meet.
The late decision to run Tarpy's Goal in Sunday's Grade 2 Futurity at Belmont Park rather than Saturday's Grade 3 Bashford Manor at Churchill Downs came down to simple mathematics, according to trainer Dale Romans.
Coming off a dominant victory in the Grade 2 Vagrancy Handicap here June 4, Hilda's Passion would have been a logical candidate for next weekend's Grade 1, $350,000 Princess Rooney Handicap at Calder.
