George Bolton and Barry Hall's Fashion Alert remained undefeated in two starts and picked up her first graded stakes victory in the process July 18, but had to work hard to do it in the $150,000 Schuylerville Stakes at Saratoga Race Course.
The connections of a pair of turf females who just missed major scores in their previous starts, Emollient and Strathnaver, hope for better July 19 in the $500,000 TVG Diana Stakes on the first Saturday of the Saratoga Race Course meeting.
Despite the absence of Untapable, who chose to run in the Haskell Invitational Handicap instead of running in the CCA Oaks at 1-10 or lower, only six fillies showed up for a race that used to be the crowning achievement for a 3-year-old filly.
Unsuccessful in six previous tries at the Grade 1 level, Summer Front is well-positioned to break through as part of a small field in the $300,000 Eddie Read Stakes, the first top-level race of the Del Mar season July 20.
