After playing second fiddle in his prior two starts, favored Bradester finished on top in the $107,300 Ack Ack Stakes Sept. 6 from Churchill Downs, holding off Carve in a front-running effort by 1 ¾ lengths.
Favored Vicar's in Trouble, back in his home state for the first time since winning the Louisiana Derby in March, dominated the 35th renewal of the $400,000 Super Derby Sept. 6 at Louisiana Downs.
Cristina's Journey successfully stretched out to 1 1/16 miles on Saturday and led every step of the way home in Churchill Downs' Grade 2, $231,000 Pocahontas Stakes.
As the first race in the "Road to the Kentucky Derby" scoring series, and a "Win & You're In" for the Breeders' Cup Juvenile, Saturday's Grade 3, $115,500 Iroquois Stakes featured several promising two-year-olds at Churchill Downs.
